Torroella de Montgri
Torroella de Montgrí: located 3 milles away, it's a village with a thousand years of history, retaining the flavour of its past in its dense network of Medieval streets, squares and buildings that will surprise you. Ullastret
Ullastret: located 9,3 milles away, a small agricultural village. Romanesque church, it retains part of its wall (13-16th Century) and its Gothic "llotja" (commodities market) with its surprisingly wide arches. At the northwest of the village lie the ruins of an ancient Iberian settlement (4th Century BC to 3rd Century AC), as well as a small museum.
Peratallada
Peratallada: located 10,5 milles away, an important Medieval centre. It retains its old feudal appearance. Castle and palace (11-14th Century), town walls (12-13th Century), and Romanesque church (13th Century). The village retains its ancient layout in its narrow streets and provides numerous gastronomic options.
La Bisbal
La Bisbal d'Empordā: located 14,3 milles away, a large rural village with an important ceramics industry. Medieval castle of Romanesque origin (12th Century). Weekly street market. Its history is intertwined with the history of the entire region. We recommend its pastry shops.
Pals
Pals: located 9,3 milles away, a rustic-touristic village. Romanesque church, it retains one of the towers of its ancient wall, along with a charming old quarter. Weekly street market. Golf course.
Monells
Rural and charming village with more than 1000 years of history, built on each side of the Rissec crook. During the Middle Ages its market was a commercial example in the whole area. On the right side of the crook you can see the castle and on the left side there's the Sant Genis Church.
Madremanya
Fortified medieval village. The access to the centre of the village is through a gate followed by narrow streets that lead up until the Romanesque church of Sant Esteve, which was fortified between the XIV and XVI centuries.
Sant Marti d'Empuries
Placed near the archaeological site of Empuries. It's the place where the Phocean Greeks first arrived to the peninsula. Nowadays it keeps its medieval structure. On the IX, X and XI century it was the capital of the Empuries County, before it went to Castello d'Empuries.
L'Escala
Fishermen's village, the town's life evolved around the harbour. The most characteristic product from l'Escala are its anchovies, a lot of shops in the village are exclusively dedicated to them. We would like to recommend the Anchovy and Salt Museum.
Begur
Charming coastal village, with a castle and towers built on the XVI and XVII centuries to defend from piracy. We want to highlight the manorial houses from the " indianos ", built by town people who went to the American continent in search of fortune, mainly to Cuba.
